RE: highway 101 in northern CA

Steve, I have made the coast route 101 to route 1 starting at Grays Harbor in Washington State twice. The trip through the Redwoods especially the avenue of the Giants is an A plus. Did it with a 32 footer no dinghy and a 40 footer with a dinghy in tow. No problem or particular challenge.
At Leggett route one intersects 101 the road over to the coast is a challenge... I have done it twice getting to the coast is not much fun but once on the coast route one is no big deal... And the scenery is great...

RE: 1999 Navigator

First welcome to the forum!... Feel free to ask any and all questions...It does help sometimes to refine your questions by doing a little searching but not required.
As far as the Navigator... Hopefully some owners will chime in... It would be helpful if you posted some specifics about the coach.
I have looked at several over the years and always liked what I saw...
The navigator is a top of the line coach if it has been well maintained and well cared for it ought to make an excellent choice.

RE: Galley slide doesn't work

Somewhere you ought to have a control box for each slide. Or a master control box for multiple slides...There are usually fuses or circuit breakers for the motor circuits... I think I would start with making sure that all the leads and connectors are making good contact... I have seen a few examples where slides refused to operate and after reseating the connectors it healed:)
If you have power Gear here is a link to one of their models..

RE: Tire Pressure Monitor System - Dutch Star and Jeep Liberty

My recommendation would be SmarTire Systems.
There are several others and they all seem to work... Pressure Pro and Doran have a strong following... I have the Tire Sentry and while it only reports pressure it has proven to be reliable and accurate.
The Smartire System is the most expensive and since it goes into the tire any problem would require dismounting the tire but I believe it also to be the most advanced of the systems currently in the market.
There are several other systems reportedly underdevelopment Link the advantage of which would be to eliminate the battery life issue.
If I were in the market the Smartire system would be on my list since it will integrate with my TripTek system and display on the backup monitor...

RE: Does anybody from the Flying J company monitor this forum.

The perspective I have of Flying J's is that from a corporate perspective they want the RV business. The other perspective I have is that some flying J's are better than others. If I were to compare the worst Flying J with the worst truck stop from another brand Flying J would still be my preferred fueling stop.
The other perspective is that while Flying J does covet the RV business we represent a small proportion of their volume. It is the only one of the major truck stops firms that has shown any tangible interest in our business.
I do about 15000 miles a year in the Motorhome and I do try to patronize flying J's where possible... Prices are generally among the lowest and standards of the stop is more consistent than others.
In terms of truckers I have yet to experience any form of resentment or hostility for me using the Truck fuel lanes... In fact the only bad experiences I have had was due to other Rv'ers... Mainly failing to clear the pumps after completing fueling. I have also experienced some impatience with folks that get stumped by the process to start the fuel pump and make several trips to the inside counter.
I have also experienced several incidents where truckers went out of their way to be courteous and helpful...
I would also comment that when I have been one of the truckers hauling a load I have experienced both courtesy and complete jerks from other drivers.

RE: Campgrounds in western Virginia?

Hello, and welcome to the forum...
You might want to spend some time on RV Park Reviews...
Another source I use to help locate campgrounds along specific areas is the Trailer Life Directory, which is also an excellent planning tool..
After you get some more feedback from the class A crowd I will be moving this thread over to the Campgrounds, Resorts, and Attractions forum where this sort of topic is usually discussed.

RE: Transmission failure

Mel, This sound exactely like the problem Monaco had (Monaco problem)
If I recall the problem was due the transmission cooler that was manufactured by a vendor for Monaco failing in the same way you described your problem with the same results...

RE: Reverse 50 amp input?

You can use your Generator to supply power to your house but not in the way you suggest.
You will need to run a seperate cable from the Generator directly via a Transfer switch connected to your house distribution panel input.
You also need to be realistic about how much power you have available You Generator can provide 45 amps that you will need to ration between the house and the motorhome if the motorhome will be powered.

RE: Is there a problem with Rv Net ?

I am just wondering if anyone else is having the same problem i am, but when messages come to my in box with RV.Net forum there is nothing there. Has something changed and i didn't get the message as i can't see nothing when the mail comes in. Do i need to change something?
Yep..a couple of days a go there there was some hardware and software upgrades that left us with a slew of irritating glitches... As far as I know all of the problems have been identified and the Tech support folks are in the loop...
Interestingly some of the problems only occur when using the Internet Explorer Browser...
If experience is any teacher it will take a bit of time to get all the problems sorted out.
You can also use the Trailerlife Portal which seems to be a bit more stable in terms of access...
